Nitro Engine. SH 18 Inch (2,74cc)

I will be trying a 2 stroke 26cc engine some time late in January. I will do some tests with it on the flying wing.

50 cm large wood Prop on the 26cc engine

Put a large wood Prop on the petrol engine and did some tests.


idles without cutting out 30min test.

No longer overheats & prop is balanced.

Better thrust - but still unknown


Fuel consumption: Low RPM  : 100ml per hour

                              High RPM  : 300ml per hour

 

Will be able to get 10 hours of flight

 

Will also see if its possible to keep the UAV up for over 24 hours.

Engine and generator test. Working better than expected.

 

Still need to do a powered start from the generator

Regulated Nitro engine

Most nitro engines run incredible fast. They pump their exhaust fumes into the fuel tank to create pressure to pump the fuel to the carburetor. They are loud and can vary in rpm depending on G-force and other factors.

In this video I use a pump to regulate the fuel and keep the Nitro engine at low RPM. Hopefully this will assist in keeping nose down and reducing the fuel consumption.
